Having a bipolar disorder can be a very difficult situation, not just for the person that have it, but for the family. Some medicines will help you prevent the episodes of bipolar disorder and other medicines help treat the main symptoms. Some are mood stabilizers and others help reduce the symptoms of depression and mania.
The second kind of treatment that can be taken and im sure you psychiatrist will help you with this, is to recognize when an episode of depression or mania is approaching and recognize what are the things that actually trigger the condition in you.

Some people can be vulnerable to bipolar disorder but dont have it triggered, because the circumstances have not appear. And there are people that have bipolar disorder because they experienced a shocking event like an accident, a loss of a loved one, an illness or anything else that causes great stress and then triggers the condition.
